Dear Students and Parents,

Welcome back! We’re happy to have our 850 students returning to school and a special welcome to the new students joining our neighborhood. We have a beautiful campus and an outstanding staff and would like to welcome you to Tierra Bonita’s family. In addition, please, help me in welcoming Ms. Melody Schuman as our new Dean of Instruction at Tierra Bonita, and congratulate Ms. Deal in her new endeavor as the Principal at Eastside Elementary School.

The 2009/2010 school year promises to be an exciting and productive one. We want your child(ren) to be happy and successful at Tierra Bonita Elementary School and believe that you play a key role. That role is to continually show interest in and support for your child. The child who knows that his or her family is interested in and supports the school program will almost always have fewer problems in school and will enjoy greater success. We are eager to meet you, and we know all of you will join us in setting high academic and behavioral expectations for the coming year.

We believe in fair and consistent discipline that encourages students to be responsible for themselves. At school, we try to create a safe environment where courtesy and kindness prevail and where there is respect for differences in other people, customs and cultures.

Please share with your child’s teacher any information regarding his or her special needs that will help us better serve your family. We believe that communication among parents, students and teachers is critical in assuring student success.
